Today, the Department of Linguadidactics and Foreign Languages is a powerful scientific and methodical center for state language development, foreign language study, the formation of speech competence, cross-cultural communication skills, etc. The department employs 11 highly qualified, experienced specialists, including 1 candidate of philological sciences, 6 candidates of pedagogical sciences, and 1 candidate of psychological sciences, who ensure high-quality performance of tasks in the fields of educational and methodological, research, organizational, and international activities.
Educational and methodical activity
The Department provides teaching of foreign (English, German, French) and state (Ukrainian) languages at all three (bachelor, master, doctor of philosophy) levels of higher education, following the requirements of the educational programs implemented at the university in 19 specialties.
Pedagogical and scientific-pedagogical employees of the department use modern forms and methods of teaching and create educational and methodological complexes of the department’s disciplines, in particular:
- “Foreign language (English, German, French)” for the first (bachelor) level of higher education [technical direction (specialties: 121; 122; 123; 125; 126; 171; 172; 174; 175; 275)];
- “Foreign language (English, German, French)” for the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education [social and humanitarian direction (specialties: 011; 051; 053; 054; 061; 073; 075; 281)].
- “Foreign language (English, German, French by professional direction)” for the second (master’s) level of higher education [technical direction (specialties: 121; 122; 123; 125; 126; 171; 172; 174; 175; 275)];
- “Foreign language (English, German, French by professional direction)” for the second (master’s) level of higher education [social and humanitarian direction (specialties: 011; 051; 053; 054; 061; 073; 075; 281)].
- “Foreign language (English, German, French – Academic writing)” for the third (educational and scientific) level of higher education;
- “Ukrainian business language” for the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education [Mandatory component (OC) of educational programs].
- “Ukrainian language as a foreign language” levels A1, A2 – for foreign citizens studying at the preparatory department;
- “Ukrainian language as a foreign language” levels B1, and B2 – for foreign citizens who are higher education students (SUITT students).
Research activity
The topic of the research work of the department is “Cross-cultural communication in the conditions of globalization: linguistic and didactic aspects.”
The purpose of the research is the scientific and theoretical substantiation and development of practical recommendations for improving the system, processes, mechanisms, methods, etc., studying the linguistic and didactic aspects of cross-cultural communication in the conditions of globalization. The following tasks are implemented within the specified goal:
- The use of modern information technologies for the organization of independent work of students of technical specialties when learning a foreign language;
- Methods of listening development (English language) using authentic materials;
- Methods of speech development (English language) with the help of modern information and communication technologies;
- Peculiarities of the development of cross-cultural communication among students of technical specialties in the conditions of distance learning;
- The specificity of non-verbal signaling in the process of training foreign students of technical higher education;
- Formation of communicative competence in future specialists of the socio-economic sphere;
- Formation of Ukrainian-language professional and communicative competence of future specialists in technical specialties.
International activity
The department closely cooperates with both Ukrainian and international partner universities of the State University of Intellectual Technologies and Communication, including the University of Hamburg (Germany); Mykolas Romeres University (Republic of Lithuania), and others. The department also supports student mobility programs for higher education applicants and scientific and pedagogical staff of SUITT.
