The Department of Social and Humanities trains students in the specialty 053- Psychology of the bachelor’s level of education
The Department of social and humanitarian sciences, which combines psychology, general and social psychology, pedagogy, the history of culture and technology in Ukraine, the history of Ukraine and Ukrainian culture, and philosophy at various educational levels (preparatory department for foreign citizens, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral).
It was organized and led by Professor, Doctor of Philosophy Mariana V. Palchinska, ensuring a powerful potential for creative and professional development.
“Psychology is a universal profession that has wide application in the field of IT and beyond. Knowledge of psychology helps to grow personally, solve life issues and provide support to others, helping to avoid conflicts. They are also useful for self-improvement and adaptation to changes in the environment. The study of psychology helps to increase the efficiency of professional activity, develop business and establish relationships in the team, contributing to the achievement of harmony with the environment. Psychologists can work in various fields, such as production, education, health care, social security, enterprise management, law enforcement and military agencies, employment centers and public and political organizations,” says Maryana Viktorivna.

The history of the department’s development begins in 1930, marking the establishment of the Department of Foreign Languages. Over the years, the Department of Foreign Languages has been led by various individuals: S. I. Lutsenko (until 1952), Ye. G. Semenov (from 1952 to 1976), M. V. Faidyuk (from 1976 to 1983), O. Sh. Khalilov (from 1983 to 1998), V. O. Kudryashova (from 1998 to 2008).
The transformation and development of the department continues to this day. In 2022, the Department of Psychology of Pedagogy and Linguistics was established. In 2023, there was a separation in the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy was formed. From February 1, 2024, it was renamed the Department of Social and Humanitarian Sciences.

Given the rapid development of information technologies and their impact on modern society, the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy of the State University of Intellectual Technologies and Communication actively adapts to the challenges of this era. The focus is on combining fundamental principles of psychology and pedagogy with innovative learning methods aimed at research and development of smart technologies. Pedagogical and psychological knowledge are becoming an integral part of the profession in the field of information technologies.
Perspectives of psychology in the field of information technologies are becoming a key factor for the department. The growing importance of psychological support in the field of IT, human-technology interaction and solving cyber security problems opens new horizons in psychological science.
Strategic directions of the department’s development include improvement of software, scientific and methodical support in accordance with the high standards of the information technology industry. Emphasis is also placed on the implementation of the latest pedagogical methods for the training of specialists who will adequately cope with the challenges of the digital era.
