Scientific work: interdepartmental seminars and SPC; international and all-Ukrainian conferences; publications in scientometric and professional publications; student scientific works and their participation in all-Ukrainian competitions; inventive work.
The main activities of the department in scientific and methodological work are the development of new and improvement of existing ones: instruments and methods for measuring mechanical quantities, test benches for mechanical components of railway transport, radio-electronic weapons and military equipment, means of camouflaging military personnel from observation by modern thermal imaging instruments of measuring equipment in medical industry and housing and communal services, regarding problems of accounting, rational consumption and intelligent energy management systems (lighting, heat and water supply, air conditioning and alternative energy sources).
The department produces highly qualified personnel for the development of the scientific level of Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of Technical Sciences for the specialty: 175 – Information and measurement technologies.

The scientific-research work of the department is carried out in the following directions:
- individual scientific activity of the professorial-teaching staff (publication of scientific research results: articles, abstracts, materials at conferences, round tables, seminars);
- organizing and conducting scientific events at the faculty (conferences, round tables, seminars (including all-Ukrainian, interuniversity, interdepartmental));
- improving the scientific qualifications of scientific and pedagogical workers and employees (work on candidate dissertation of applicants for scientific degrees);
- organization of research work of higher education applicants (writing qualification papers, preparing competitive student scientific works, holding student scientific conferences at the university and participation of education applicants in all-Ukrainian and international conferences);
- publication of textbooks, methodological recommendations, obtaining patents, etc.
